Traffic Jam

Traffic jam is a common affair in the big cities and towns. It is one of the major problems of modern time. The causes of traffic jam are many. In proportion to our population roads have not increased. The roads are all the same. There are many unlicensed vehicles which should be brought under control. The drivers are not willing to obey the traffic rules. They want to drive at their sweet will. Overtaking tendency also causes traffic ham. The number of traffic police is insufficient. At office time traffic jam is intolerable. Sometimes traffic jam is so heavy that it blocks half a kilometre. It kills our valuable time and our works are hampered. It causes great sufferings to the ambulance carrying dying patients and the fire brigadevehicles. However, this problem can be solved by adopting some measures. Well plannedspacious roads should be constructed. One way movement of vehicles should be introduced.Traffic rules should be impost strictly so that the drivers are bound to obey them. Sufficient traffic police should be posted on important points. Unlicensed vehicles should be removed. After doing all these things we can hope to have a good traffic system for our easy and comfortable movement. 

Load Shedding

Load shedding means the discontinuity of supply of electricity for short or long time. Nowadays it has become a part of our daily life. There are many reasons for load shedding. The insufficient production of electricity is the main reason of it. Misuse and illegal connection of electricity are the other reasons of it. It occurs mostly at night because the demand of electricity is more than in the daytime. The bad effects of load shedding are beyond description. It creates problem in the socio-economic development of the country. Mills and factories, shops, hospitals etc. become paralyzed due to load shedding. The sufferings of the students know no bounds. They sit in the darkness closing their books during the load shedding. They suffer a lot of if it occurs in the time of their examination. The patients also suffer terribly because operation stops in hospitals for load shedding. Load shedding at night also encourages the thieves. However, this problem should be solved at any cost. The concerned authority must take necessary steps to stop it. More power stations should be established. Illegal connection and system loss should also be stopped. After all, there is no alternative to be conscious about the misuse of electricity.

An Ideal Student

     The student, who is sincere in studies, good in nature, modest in behavior, honest in thought and action, obedient to parents and superiors, disciplined in habit, is considered as an ideal student. He always gives much importance in acquiring knowledge and attending all the good qualities. He performs his duties to God, to his parents and society. Generally, he is sociable and hardworking and he loves his country. Similarly, he is seen to take part in games and sports as well as other curricular activities. Again, he is very friendly and co-operative with his classmates and friends. He always tries to assist the weak students in learning the lessons. He shows much respect to his parents, teachers, and seniors. He is ready to carry out their all instructions. Similarly, he leads a strictly disciplined life and spends the highest amount of time in the acquisition of knowledge. In a word, an ideal student reflects all the good qualities and presents him as a role model for other students.   

                              Punctuality

Punctuality means doing a thing at the previously designated or appointed time. It is often said that ‘art is long and time is fleeting’. Punctuality enables us to do a great deal of work within a short span of time. Punctuality is the most important characteristic of all successful people. A punctual person is able to complete all his task on time. The student, the teacher, the politician, the official, the trader and even the layman all have to observe punctuality in order to win glory and success in life. Punctuality brings in its trail efficiency. It helps us to build our career. A punctual person commands the confidence and respect of others. If we look at the lives of all great men, we would realize that they had got a time schedule for every day. Mahatma Gandhi used to rise early in the morning. He used to keep up appointments and was punctual to a minute. A punctual student never misses any class and learns everything that his teacher teaches. He reached the school in time and completes his assignments within the stipulated time. Hence, he manages to do well in examinations. Hence, punctuality should be practiced from childhood. Similarly, punctuality is very important at workplaces. A punctual person reaches his office in time. Punctuality of an employee gives positive signal to the employer. A punctual employee gives the impression that he is very serious for his job and that he is competent of discharging his duties in an efficient manner. He commands respect in the eyes of both his colleagues and the boss. Punctuality is a virtue, which is doubly blessed. It imparts efficiency and keeps a person fit and healthy. If we get up early in the morning and take a walk every day and follow a set-programme of life every day, we shall be able to keep fit and healthy. But if we waver and show laxity in our daily programs, we are bound to meet with failure in life. Let us look at nature. The sun rises at a particular time every-day with slight variation. Rain falls in a regular pattern every year. All the seasons punctually emerge every year. The flowers bloom in spring and the earth wears green apparel during the spring season. In this way, the moon and the stars appear at a particular time. The seasons change according to a set time-table. Thus, everything in nature appears at a proper time. Thus, nature teaches us to be punctual. If we follow the course of nature, we will keep fit, healthy and strong. No school, college or institution can function if punctuality is not observed there. Thus, punctuality is an important ingredient of all successful people. Punctuality implies maintaining regularity in our daily schedule of work. Punctuality is the gate-way to success.

Digital Bangladesh

Bangladesh is resounding with the target of achieving digital Bangladesh. Broadly speaking, a digital society ensures an ICT driven knowledge-based society where information will be readily available on-line and where all possible tasks of the government, semi-government and private spheres will be processed using the modern technology. So, a digital Bangladesh must guarantee efficient and effective use of modern ICT in all spheres of the society with a view to establishing good governance. In other word, making Bangladesh a digital one, we have to establish technology driven e-governance, e-commerce, e-production, e-agriculture, e-health etc, in the society emphasizing the overall development of the common people. Building strong ICT infrastructure is the pre-requisite for making Bangladesh a digital one. For this, we need to focus on the following relevant issues assessing the harsh reality that hinders our development in this context. Latest statistics show that Bangladesh faces a power deficit of up to 200 MW against a demand of 5000 MW daily. It may be noted that for proper ICT development an uninterrupted power supply is a must. For the ICT development Internet users of the country must be increased. In this case our place is the worst one among the South Asian countries. From different sources, it has been learnt that, English literacy rate in Bangladesh is less than one percent. Whereas, English literacy rates in India and Pakistan are 60% and 20% respectively. There is a strong correlation between English literacy and ICT development in the present context of globalization. In the arena of ICT English has become the Lingua-Franca. Though the above accounts seem to be frustrating one, these can be easily overcome within a reasonable span of time if we can establish good governance in the country. For making a digital Bangladesh by 2021, the government must address the above stated issues effectively and efficiently in transparent manners. In many cases we need to reformulate our national policy (e.g. education policy, ICT policy) in accordance with the Millennium Development Goals. If the leaders of our country objectively guide this generation, they can do wonder for the nation.

                         Wonder of Modern Science

Science has changed the face of the world. It has also revolutionized the life of man. Man can now live a longer and more comfortable life because of the progress of science. Man has conquered Nature with the help of science.

The wonders of Science have contributed to the comforts and pleasures of man. Man can be comfortable anywhere on the surface of the earth. Air- conditioning can keep him cool at the Equator. Central heating makes it possible for him to keep warm at the Poles. He has become independent of the climate. Labour- saving gadgets have lightened the burden of house work for the housewife. Science has also added to our pleasure. We can turn on the radio or TV and entertain ourselves at home. If we wish for outdoor entertainment we can go and see a film or do a variety of other things.

Electricity is one of the wonders of Science. Without it we would not have had electric lights, fans, refrigerators and all the labour-saving devices in the home. We also have wonderful means of travel. Cars and buses are very common. Electric trains carry us across the land with great speed. Jet planes go like a flash across the sky. In no time, we can be in another continent. Thus speedy travel is possible only on account of the wonders of science. Electricity also enables us to use elevators and escalators that save us the trouble of going up and down flights of stairs.

Science has also provided us with spectacles and contact lenses artificial limbs, fountain pens, type-writers and mechanical brains or computers, aren’t all these the wonders of science ?

It is a wonder that science has conquered deadly diseases, made man healthier and lengthened the span of human life. There is now a cure for practically every fatal disease that used to take a heavy toll of human life in the past. Not only this still more wonderful is the fact that worn out organs like the human heart and kidneys can be replaced by transplants.

With the help of science, man has even reached the moon. Soon he will be visiting other planets too. There is no limit to the wonders of science. Scientists are coming out with new inventions and wonders every now and then.

The atom bomb and nuclear weapons are also wonders of science. As these can cause much destruction, it would be better for men to make constructive use of the wonders of science.
